There are films which manage to entertain you and then there are films which leave a massive impact on you. The trailer of Taapsee Pannu starrer Thappad falls into the latter category. Taapsee has always been a part of films which gets the audience thinking and that is one quality about the actress which I love a lot. Right from Baby, Naam Shabana, Mulk, Pink to Game Over, all her films have showcased an array of characters and each one has cast its charm. The trailer of Anubhav Sinha‘s directorial does the exact same.

Ask Taapsee whether she stumbles upon good scripts or it is vice-versa and she says,

I just go and grab good scripts and I am very shameless. I am also very shameless to let the good scripts go even if that means that I have to work extra hard. Today, I started my day at 5 in the morning, trained for Rashmi Rocket for 2 hours, then shot for Haseen Dilruba, then drove down to Delhi to catch a flight to come to Mumbai to attend the trailer preview of Thappad. I am not okay to let good films go out of my hand.

While Kabir Singh spoke about how everything is okay in love, ‘even raising hands on each other’, your film underlines a different mindset. We hope people get that…

I hope that too. Because they made what they believed in and we made what we believed in and we don’t think it’s okay. We don’t think its expression of love because there is no disrespect in love. We don’t think slapping anyone is expressing love, not in our dictionaries. So that is why we made this film. It is somewhere inculcated in our system, because as kids our parents and teachers bash us. We grow up thinking that theek karne ke liye, ek (chaata) chalta hai. Especially by our by parents who love us so much. Then when the kid grows up, he will use the same power on his wife and kids further and this will never stop. Hitting a kid is not right because after he grows up, he might become a serial abuser.

Talking about Haseen Dilruba, she further revealed,

Kanika (Dhillon) has written the script. This is a romantic thriller. While Manmarziyaan was a plain romantic drama, this one is wacky. There is romance and then there’s a murder that takes place. There is sensuality in it and has a pulp fiction feel to it while being a solid love story.

Coming back to Thappad, I cannot wait to watch this one for sure. Way to go girl!
